FOCS to host people's convention of Aug 22

Imphal, August 17 2026: The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur will hold a people's convention on "Reshaping the Political Upheaval in Manipur: Issues and Challenges" at Manipur University auditorium on August 22 .

Announcing this at FOCS office, Kabow Leikai War Cemetery yesterday, FOCS president BM Yaima Shah said a prior academic discourse was held at MU's MIMS on July 28, where three resolutions were adopted.

He said the convention aims to discuss the role of citizens amid ongoing conflict and threats to Manipur's territory and unity.

Legal experts, academicians and intellectuals will attend.

Organising Committee convenor Kh Chandramani appealed to refrain from any bandh or blockade on August 22 and urged the public to extend support to make the convention a success.
