Imphal, August 17 2026: Ex-Chief Minister N Biren Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the latter's residence in Delhi in the evening today.

The meeting which began at 6 pm lasted about 30 minutes.

While the agenda of the meeting was not divulged, over the phone, Biren said the discussion was on several issues facing Manipur.

"The Home Minister said several things which the people of the State will like," Biren said speaking to this paper.

The meeting was very positive.

The Union Home Minister gave his assurances on "many things to be done for Manipur", he added.

The ex-Chief Minister didn't divulge further details but said he will address the media and inform the public after his return.

Notably, Biren had flown to Delhi yesterday following an invitation from the Union Home Minister.

Biren is expected to meet a few Central BJP leaders before returning to Manipur.
