Imphal, May 28 2022:
The Eereicha Kanba Lup (EKL), Kabui Union, Manipur (KUM) and Youth Development Organisation (YDO) have shared their view on the arrest of Dr Mark T Haokip who has been sent to 15 days judicial remand by the Duty Magistrate of Imphal West.
A press release issued by EKL said that a section of people creating an issue out of the arrest of Dr Mark T Haokip who allegedly "attempted to distort the history of Manipur and create enmity among the people is illogical" .
Expressing suspicion that there might be some agenda for the uproar seen in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts, EKL said that some section of people demanding release of the 'Myanmar National' would be like adding fuel to fire.
It also condemned the demand itself which sought unconditional release of Dr Mark T Haokip and asked the State Government to take befitting action against him.
The Kabui Union, Manipur (KUM) claimed that Dr Mark T Haokip misrepresented Rani Gaidinliu on his Facebook post and tried to destroy the cohesive integrity of Manipur.
The union, while thanking the State Government for arresting Dr Mark T Haokip , said that they will support all assistance to protect the integrity of Manipur.
It further appealed to the State Government to take legal actions against all who attempt to distort the history of Manipur.
Youth Development Organisation (YDO), on the other hand, claimed that Dr Mark T Haokip is responsible for bringing in many Myanmar Nationals to Manipur.
It is also clear that Mark Haokip and his associates not only disrespect "our history but also have a hand in defiling sites sacred to us," YDO said and added that association will always oppose any attempt which endanger the integrity of Manipur.
