Meritorious students felicitated across Imphal

Imphal, July 31 2022:
Meritorious students who successfully cleared the Class XII and X examinations conducted by BOSEM, COHSEM and CBSE were felicitated and awarded across Imphal in separate events.
WAL United Youth's Club, Wangkhei Angom Leikai felicitated these students at WAL Community Hall today.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by Thangjam Arunkumar, MLA Wangkhei AC as the chief guest; N Babu Singh, president WAL United Youths' Club as the president of the function and Ch Dhirendra Singh, retd principal, Nungba Higher Secondary School as the guest of honour.
Altogether 42 students from Wangkhei Angom Leikai were felicitated with the presentation of a certificate and cash prize.
Speaking as the chief guest, MLA Thangjam Arunkumar highlighted the difference between education in the past and the present by bring the trend of private tuitions into focus.
He stressed on the need for students to conduct selfstudy instead of being spoon fed their study materials.
The MLA added that self-study and one's own efforts will help students to become independent and self-reliant.
The MLA also encouraged students to learn some skills in the fields of their interest while simultaneously pursuing their studies.
Solely relying on education without picking up any skills or trades will prove to be detrimental, the MLA said.
Addressing the problem of unemployment, Thangjam Arunkumar stated that relevant authorities should provide skill-based training to these unemployed youths.
Separately, meritorious students and sportspersons were honoured at the 12th Educational Meritorious & Sports Achievement Awards 2021-22 organised by Heingang United Clubs Organisation (HUCO) at Youth Development cum Library Centre (YDLC) ground in Heingang Mayai Leikai today.
Altogether 104 persons were honoured with awards and monetary incentive during the event.
It is worth noting that out of 104 persons, 15 were sportspersons who had bagged medals in various fields; 60 were students who successfully cleared Class X examination conducted by CBSE and BOSEM; 20 were students who had cleared Class XII examination and 6 were orphaned Government school students.

secretary, HUCO said that HUCO is the apex body of 12 clubs and that the annual awards program was held to honour successful youth in the field of education as well as sports.
He stated that in the past, Heingang was greatly underdeveloped and lacked the presence of renowned officers that called it home.
However, now, Heingang can boast of giving birth to many intellectuals and department officers.
Highlighting the role of local clubs in the progress of a community, he urged people for their support and shared the hope of the 12 clubs establishing sports academies in their respective localities in the interest of the younger generation in the coming years.
Keisham Sagei Foundation Manipur organized the 16th Meritorious Students' Felicitation Function 2022 at the conference hall of Hotel Tampha, North AOC today.
Altogether, 19 students were felicitated during the function, a statement has informed.
Separately Moirang Hanuba Tengbang Lup, Sagolband Moirang Hanuba distributed prizes to students who successfully cleared the Class X and XII in an event organised at Moirang Hanuba community hall today.
This was accompanied with the distribution of old age pension.
During the event 27 students were bestowed with meritorious awards while 9 eligible elders from the locality received old age pension under a monthly scheme launched by Moirang Hanuba Tengbang Lup.
The event was attended by Kh Shyamo Meitei, president, Semgat Sagatpa Committee; S Brojen Singh, president, Moirang Hanuba Tengbang Lup; Ph Premjit Singh, president, MYDC and S Bala Devi, president, Moirang Hanuba Chaokhat Khongthang Nupi Lup.
Also, the 9th Councillor Meritorious Award distribution function was conducted at Wangkhei Puja Lampak community hall today.
Social worker Huidrom Vikramjit, Professor K Yugindro, Dean, School of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Manipur University; Nongthombam Chandrajini, retd principal Sagang Higher Secondary School; Dhiren Phanjoubam, HoD, Education Department, Standard College and Thangjam Gopinath, lecturer, UNACCO School attended the event as presidium members.
150 students who secured impressive marks in the Class X and XII examinations were presented with the award by the presidium members and sponsors of the event.
