Imphal, December 07 2021:
Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) celebrated its 11th foundation anniversary on Tuesday at GM hall, Imphal.
The celebration was attended by social scientist Dhanabir Laishram, SIMS director Dr S Kumar, Lilong Haoreibi College principal Dr Raheizuddiri Sheikh, MMWO president SK Wajid Sev, MCM president Alhaj Ali, HERICOUN president L Ratan, CCSK president Jitendra Ningomba, UCM vice president YK Dhiren, IPSA vice president Khuraijam Athouba and JCILPS convener BK Moirangcha as presidium members.
In his speech at the event, SK Wajid Sev expressed displeasure over the manner in which the demand for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list of Indian Constitution is being made and suggested that prior collective discussion and deliberation with leaders of all communities is needed for pushing a demand.
Manipur is a land inhabited by different communities and the society cannot be termed developed when only one community is developed, he said, adding that the demand for ST status of Meetei/Meitei would succeed when all communities of the state push the demand collectively.
While condemning the massacre of 14 civilians by Indian Army in Nagaland few days back, SK Wajid Sev said that there is no guarantee that such massacre will not happen in Manipur and strongly called for repeal of AFSPA from the state.
