LNC holds thanksgiving programme

Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M), the apex organisation of Liangmai Naga community in the state, observed a "thanksgiving programme" for declaring Chaga Ngee as a restricted state holiday on October 30.The programme held Tuesday at Green Tree Academy, Kanglatongbi Tribal University Road, Makhan under Kangpokpi district was attended by Forest & Environment, Climate Change and Sericulture minister Awangbow Newmai in the presence of Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Manipur former director Kaikhamang Daimai and United Naga Council (UNC) president Kho John and his colleagues, among others.
On October 30 every year, the Liangmai tribe celebrates Chaga Ngee as one of the biggest festivals.
"It is a festival of purification or sanctincation and rededication of life to God.
Chaga Ngee is the biggest and the most important festival of the Liangmai Naga community, the LNC said.
