Assam body helps violence-hit people

Apart from praying for peace in Manipur, As-sam-based Apunba Jaribon Tengbang Lup, a conglom-erate of 33 Meetei villages of Hailakandi (Assam), has started helping people af-fected by the ongoing vio-lence in the state.
Addressing media per-sons at Manipur Press Club Friday, president Makhol-sana said a team of the Lup came to Manipur on June 7 to demonstrate to the people that Meeteis living in Assam share pain and suffering of people of the state and also to strengthen brotherly relation.
The Lup came to extend whatever help it can to people affected by the violence and extend-ed financial assistance to 11 injured people under-going treatment at RIMS on June 8.He also said that the Lup will visit different relief camps rom Saturday onwards and make donate to violence hit people.
He also said that the Lup plans to visit Sugnu, Moirang and Awang Sekmai.
Apunba Jaribon Tengbang Lup general secretary Lou-rembam Joykanta also said that they came to Manipur for only five days but de-cided to extend the stay for some more days in view of large numbers of affected people and casualties.
He also said that the Lup will extend whatever it can to bring back peace and nor-malcy in Manipur.
According to Lourembam Joykanta, clubs and organi-sations of Jaribon along with people took out a rally on June 10 and even submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister through the DC .
