Imphal, June 09 2023:
The Politburo Stand - ing Committee of the armed Kangleipak Communist Par-ty (KCP) has imposed per-manent ban on betel leaves syndicate as well as trans-portation of betel leaves into Manipur (Kangleipak) with immediate effect.
The outfit also warned of taking suitable action against anyone or members of syndi-cate found violating the ban.
According to a statement of KCP- Politburo Standing Committee, the syndicate which supplies betel leaves through road transport has been paying lakhs of rupees to anti - Kangleipak Kuki militant groups like KRA and KNA as well as Kuki Inpi every month thus helping them fund their anti-Kan-gleipak activities amidst the bloody conflict between two communities currently raging in Kangleipak.
In-deed, it has beenconfirmed that over 1 crore rupees is annually paid to these an-ti-Kangleipak Kuki groups by the same syndicate.
What is even more shocking is the fact that even in the aftermath of the ongoing Meitei-Kuki conflict, the same syndicate paid nearly Rs 7/8 lakh just for being allowed to transport a few truckloads of betel leaves through Kuki-dominated areas even as Kuki groups have imposed inhuman blockade on transport of all essential commodities like food and medical supplies.
It would not be wrong to sug-gest that these large amounts of money, being paid to the an-ti-Kangleipak Kuki groups, are being used to acquire arms and ammunition so as to continue their nefarious designs against Kangleipak in general and the Meetei/Meitei community in particular.
What is even more unfortunate is the fact that this betel leaves syndicate run by a few self-interested Meeteis/ Meiteis, who may be consid-ered as traitors for funding the very anti-Kangleipak groups which have declared war on Kangleipak.
On the strength of the above facts, the Politburo Standing Committee of KCP has unanimously decided to impose a permanent ban on the transport of betel leaves into Kangleipak and also on the same betel leaves syndicate with immediate effect, the KCP statement issued by deputy secretary of information & public relations M Punsiba Meitei added.
