Imphal, June 09 2023:
Demanding the Government to handover the task of tackling Kuki militants to the public if they are unable to do so, Yelhoumee Kanba Lup (YEMKAL) has appealed to the public to launch a mass agitation on June 10 from 3 pm to 5 pm .
Addressing a press conference yesterday at Manipur Press Club, YEMKAL chief convenor Loken Angom urged the people to cease work during the aforementioned hours and venture out in droves along the National Highways and State Highways in protest.
He also sought the cooperation of the meira paibi associations, local organisations etc in this connection.
"It is time for the indigenous communities of both hills and valley areas to unite against the Kuki militants.
When Manipur and its indigenous communities cease to exist, what good will patriotism do then?", he asked.
Demanding the disqualification of 10 Chin-Kuki MLAs, Loken Angom said, "It was shameful that ten Chin-Kuki MLAs made the call for a separate administration in front of fifty other indigenous MLAs" .
He also declared YAMKEL's bold stand to not remain as mute spectators in the face of certain elements seeking to destroy the integrity of Manipur.
Reiterating his appeal to the people to participate in the aforementioned mass agitation, he further urged them to raise slogans such as "Foreigners cannot be land owners", "Implement NRC", "Indian Government must not foster Kuki militants", "Eliminate Kuki militants", etc.
