Imphal, June 09 2023:
Regarding the alleged failure in curbing violence in the state, a meeting of 10 like-minded political parties was held at Congress Bhawan, BT Road on Friday afternoon.
According to Congress Legislature Party leader Okram lbobi, representatives of the political parties will soon meet Prime Minister Narendra During the meeting, which was attended by representa - Elves of INC, CPI, JD(13), AIFB, RSP, SS(UBT), TMC, NCP and AAP, discussions were held on the prevailing violence in the state and the failure of the centraland state governments to contain the same.
After minute deliberation, three resolutions were ad-opted, which included for the representatives of the 10 political parties to leave for Delhi at the earliest and meet PM Modi regarding the pre-vailing situation; convening a spectal session of Manipur Legislative Assembly with regard to the violence, and strong condemnation of the PM's silence over the violence continuing for over 35 days.
Speaking to newspersons after the meeting, Ibobi in-formed that although the communal clashes took the state by surprise, he prayed such violence do not occur the future.
He continued th the people are in agreemei that the BJP government faik to control the violence till da when it could have done r.within a week to 10 days.
such, one can only wont whether the BJP governmei intents to see the people Id each other.
If the clashes wet to happen in any other stat.
there would be outcries a over country, he remarked Although the union home minister visited the state on the 26th day of the violence and sincerely tried to work out solution in addition to announcing relief assistance from the centre, the Prime Minister's stoic silence and purported act of handing over the entire responsibility to the home minster is questionable.
Thus, representatives of polit-ical parties, whether elected or not, who are in politics to serve the people, decided to take action as silence is not the answer, he stated.
lbobi continued that the BJP government in the state seems to be playing truant.
When Congress was in power other political parties were consult-ed with during any issue and central leaders intimated to solve the problems.
However, as the ruling BJP government has failed to live up to its du-ties, the 10 political parties will go to Delhi and meet the PM, union home minister, defence minister and leaders of other political parties.
The CLP leader then said that earlier ministers of the NDA government used to visit the northeastern region every other week.
Thus, Congress had assumed that the govern-ment is taking the north-east-em states seriously.
However, since the violence occurred in Manipur, no central minister other than the union home minister visited the state and enquired about its well-being, he pointed out.
