SHRI ensures free medical service beyond ethnic lines

In view of the ongoing crisis, Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI) Pvt Ltd has announced that it will provide free medical service, beyond ethnic lines, to those who have sustained injuries as a result of the prevailing violence.
Dr Palin Khundongbam, Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of SHRI Pvt Ltd made the announcement this afternoon during a press conference held at the auditorium of the hospital located at Langol under Imphal West district.
The superspeciality hospital which has provided its services to the public for the last 37 years on top of opening the first private medical college in North East India has so far treated sixteen persons wounded during the unrest which has gripped the State for more than a month, the CMD said.
Reportedly, the sixteen individuals received medical treatment at a discounted price while some of them also availed benefits provided under health cards such as CMHT and AB-PMJAY cards.
Saying that from today the hospital will provide free medical treatment to those injured in the conflict irrespective of their ethnic background, Dr Palin shared that the medical expenses for the treatment will be borne by the 1590 staff (approx) of Shija Hospitals who will also be rendering their medical expertise and services free of cost.
The injured will be treated in the general ward while facilities for operations (minor or major), ICU, investigation, medicines and consumables will be dispensed to them at no cost.
Further, arrangements for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the victims of violence have been outsourced to Royal Cafe which is located within the campus of the hospital, Dr Palin added.
To support this noble endeavour of Shija Hospitals, a few companies have reached out and assured to supply lab reagents free of cost.
Eleven medical stores have also assured their help in the form of medicines and other consumables, the CMD maintained.
Notably, Shija Hospitals has launched two helpline numbers to facilitate free treatment of injured persons in a smooth manner.
The phone numbers are : 9007900794 and 9611609611 .
At this juncture, Dr Palin Khundongbam made an appeal to the State Government to make necessary arrangements so that health cards can be issued in the campus of the hospital.
Further, in light of the unstable economic condition of the people brought on by the ongoing crisis, Shija Hospitals has provided free OPD services to 2000 people since June 1, the CMD stated.
