RAF refutes

The Rapid Action Force (RAF) has refuted the allegation that its personnel were harassing civilians in the name of search operation at Sanjenthong.
A press release said that one coy of RAF has been deployed in Imphal East district since 20th May, 2023 and it has been assisting the district police in restoring peace and in maintaining law and order in the District.
On 7th June 2023, at around 9 am, the RAF coy was requisitioned because of an arson incident at Sanjenthong.
The RAF party quickly intervened in the situation and apprehended two miscreants who were involved in the illegal activity and they were booked under relevant sections of law.
In order to bring normalcy in the area and to prevent further anti-social activities, the RAF party which consisted of women component frequently patrolled the river bank of Sanjenthong, it said.
The objective is also to give confidence to the locality.
There was no report of misbehaviour or harassment, it claimed.
However, miscreants involved in arson cases might have instigated the public to demoralise the RAF personnel who are doing their duties professionally, it said.
It also reiterated that the RAF personnel are performing duty for welfare of the public.
