Cash aid extended to 'martyrs', rally taken out

Wangjing-Tentha MLA P Brojen on Friday ex-tended monetary assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to three 'martyrs' (Athouba) of his constituency, who lost their lives in firing attack by Kuki militants, and Rs 50,000 to another person who suffered injuries.
The three namely havil-dar Thokchom Kiran and Laishram Binod of Wangjing Hodamba, and Heikrujam Rabisana of Khongjom Bazar got killed trying to protect Meetei villages in Serou and Sugnu from Kuki mil-itants, while Soibam Jony of Wangjing got injured in the gunfight MLA P Brojen along with Peace and Relief Committee Wangjing Tentha AC mem-bers visited houses of the deceased and injured and handed over the monetary aid to their family mem-bers along with sharing their grief.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Brojen announced that people will never forget the sacrifice of the three 'Athou-ba' and he will also erect memorial pillar in their honour in the constituency.
On the other-hand, a rally was taken out on Friday on the 'Mangani Leihul Thour-am ' (ritual) of 'Athouba' Laishram Binod Meitei, son of L Janeswor of Wangjing Hodamba Awang Leikai.
The rally which started from deceased's residence and passed through Wang-jing villages via Wangjing Keithel culminated at the starting point.
Protestors held placards and shouted slogans such as 'we want peace', 'condemn act of Kuki militants', 'stop biased action of AR', 'save Manipur's integrity', 'no separate administration', etc., during the rally.
