Imphal, June 09 2023:
Cutting across par-ty lines, all 50 MLAs and those involved in polit-ical activities have been urged to head to Delhi and launch agitation to make all concerned aware about the ground reality in the state.
Addressing media per-sons regard at Manipur Press Club here on Fri-day, Committee on Self Protection, Wangkhei convertor Toijam Lenin Luwang said that series of violence in the state since May 3 and unprecedented attacks on Meitei commu-nity by armed militants from across the border have affected every sec-tion of the society.
The situation has been further aggravated as the central government is hesitating to launch crackdown on the armed militants, he said and termed as dis-heartening that many of MLAs are remaining silent and acting according to the whims of the centre.
While pointing out that merely repeating "we will go by the voice of the people" is not enough or satisfactory, he said it is time for the MLAs to lead the people.
When the Ku-kis can reach Delhi and place their demands to the Union Home minister Amit Shah, why can't the leaders of the state shout slogans and agitate in Del-hi, he wondered.
Maintaining that 10 Kuki MLAs who have left Imphal after demanding separate administration and undermining the in-tegrity of Manipur cannot be allowed to return back to Manipur, Lenin stated that any individual desir-ous of leaving Manipur are welcome but they cannot take an inch of Manipur's land.
He also said that the re-maining 10 MLAs should sign a joint declaration for safeguarding the ter-ritorial integrity of Ma-nipur and all intellectuals of Manipur should go to Delhi and highlight the issues besieging the state to the political leaden and national and international media.
