The 29th Imphal Book Fair 2023 will be organised at TRAU Ground Kwakeithel from January 15 to 24 with as many as 84 stalls selling and showcasing a wide range of genres of books at discounted prices.
Speaking to media at the State Central Library at Keishampat, Art and Culture Commissioner, M Joy said all preparations have been completed and the book fair is expected to attract book lovers and students in large numbers.
The 29th edition of the Imphal Book Fair will be jointly organised by the State Central Library, Department of Art and Culture and Raja Rammuhon Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata.
A total of 37 book firms including 20 from Manipur and 17 from outside will open 84 stalls in the fair.
The 20 firms of Manipur will open 39 book stalls, while the 17 firms from outside States will open 45 stalls.
A 15 percent discount will be given on all books during the fair, said the Commissioner.
M Joy further said, various events will also be organised during the 10-day fair.
Beside releasing books, events like symposium on "Internet and Library", "Meet the Theatre Personality", quiz competition for Class XI-XII students, painting competition for school children and "Meet the Author" etc.
The book fair was halted due to COVID-19 pandemic, the previous' years.
Also, it was supposed to be held in December 2022, however due to Government's other engagements, it was postponed.
From next year, the fair will be held in December, he said.
Stating that the fair will showcase genres of books on science and technology, history, biographies, literature and art etc, he appealed to people of all age including students to visit the fair.
