Ukhrul, January 12 2023:
The Hunphun/Ukhrul Village Authority has said that construction of Ukhrul-Toloi-Tadubi road should not be deviated from the approved plan under any circumstances.
The village authority also demanded clarification from MLA Ramnganing Muivah for giving 'a misleading statement' on the construction of NH-102A during a meeting held at Imphal.
Addressing a press conference held at HA Rashing Hall, Awungtang, Ukhrul, village headman HA Sarimaya said that the two-lane highway must pass through the heart of Ukhrul Town (from Dungrei to Kharasom junction) .
Meanwhile, a member of the Committee on NH-102A Highway Expansion, Khayui Raleng said that some affected land owners lodged a complaint over the delay in the execution of the work in 2017 to the Ministry concerned.
He also said that they had conveyed the situation to Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam last year.
Saying that the Works Minister assured to construct the highway according to DPR prepared in 2017, Khayui claimed that Govindas has failed to deliver his assurance.
Khayui also informed that a meeting was held at the conference hall of the Executive Director (P), NHIDCL Regional office, Imphal on December 21, 2022 with MLA Ramnganing Muivah in the chair.
During the meeting, the committee submitted a representation for construction of NH-102A from Dungrei to Kharasom junction by passing through Ukhrul Town, he added.
Claiming that the MLA however gave a misleading and fabricated record of the meeting and that it has become a serious concern, he asked the MLA to clarify at the earliest.
According to Khayui, Hunphun/Ukhrul local authority didn't demand upgrading of road from Dungrei to Khararsom junction other than asking the authority concerned to make sure NH-102A passes through Ukhrul Town and stick to the original plan for highway expansion.
He also said that they never gave their consent for construction of Ukhrul bypass road until NH-102A is constructed.
Womgam Muirangwo, secretary of the village, said that the original alignment for highway expansion touches all localities of Ukhrul town and was supposed to be beneficial to all the residents of the town.
The two lane highway expansion will ease traffic congestion considerably and ensure road Safety to the public, he added.
