Thangal community urged to be ambassador of peace

Textiles, commerce and industries minister Nemcha Kipgen triggered the spirit of peace during the Platinum Jubilee celebration of Thangal Union and inspired the Thangal community to be an ambassador of peace among the diverse communities of Manipur.
Thangal Union (Thangal Khanglong), the apex body of Thangal Naga community, celebrated Platinum Jubilee on Thursday under the theme 'Reminiscing Our Past and Envisioning Our Future Together' at Yaikongpao village in Kangpoki district.
Attending as chief guest of the event, minister Nemcha Kipgen said that changes for the better would come in the state when every community considers each other as brothers and work together for a better future with unity.
She urged all to keep away narrow mindset but move forward in unity to make the state developed in all fields.
With the coming of BJP government, development could be seen everywhere in the state, she added.
The event was also attended by Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen, Tadubi MLA N Kayisii and Saikul MLA Kimneo Hang-shing.
While MLA Haokholet Kipgen mentioned in his speech that Thangal com munity has two legendary patriots namely General Thangal and Charai Thangal, who made supreme sacrifice for the cause of the land, N Kayisii stated that the Thangals are very disciplined and honest tribe.
N Kayisii then stressed the need to change some social errors that are prevailing in the society at present.
In her speech, MLA Kimneo Hangshing said that Manipur might be small in size but more than 30 different tribes and communities living together deems it fit be called a mini-India.
The MLA urged all to live together as one, protect integrity and work for equal development.
Folk tunes, cultural dances, Thangal indigenous games were showcased at the event.
