Governor vows to address woes of Pherzawl denizens

Governor of Manipur La Ganesan visited Pherzawl district and inaugurated the Unau Suopui Cultural Festival, 2023 held at Parbung Ground on Thursday.
The Governor also interacted with district level officers, representatives of civil society organisations and women leaders among others.
He heard the issues and grievances of the people in the newly created district and assured to extend all possible help in the larger interest of the people.
Addressing the gathering in the inaugural ceremony, Governor.
La Ganesan said, "It is gratifying to note that 26 cultural troupes including Aimol, Anal, Chiru, Hmar, Lamkang and many others are participating in the mega cultural festival.
He continued, "Although the communities were originated from Ruong-Le-Vaisuo, popularly known as Tipaimukh, they have been found scattered in Manipur, Assam, Mizoram, Tripura etc.
However, the communities share similarities in their language, songs, dances, indigenous games and sports.
These tribes have been harmoniously living together for the last more than four centuries".
Stating that the cultural festival will certainly provide a platform to meet all the tribes who are settled at different places of the North East, the Governor said that the festival symbolizes peace, harmony and unity rising above the barriers of caste, creed or religion.
"Let the spirit of Ruong-Le-Vaisuo Unau Suopui Cultural Festival embrace one and all to strengthen the social fabric more than ever and bring prosperity to all the communities irrespective of caste, creed and religion in the state," he added.
The Governor also unveiled a monolith during the inaugural ceremony of the festival.
Later interacting with the DLOs, CSOs, women's leaders and villagers at the community hall near Parbung Ground, La Ganesan said that the state government is doing its best in many sectors of development.
He said, "Although Pherzawl district has been lagging behind in comparison to other districts of the state, the government is committed to ensure all round development in the district.
Issues pertaining to healthcare, education, connectivity, banking, etc., should be taken care of and all authorities concerned should also pay their attention for the welfare of the people".
The Governor further stated that the problem regarding shortage of manpower and infrastructure in the newly created district is a major issue and he will ask the officials concerned to make necessary arrangements at the earliest.
He also assured the people that he will write to the departments concerned and will ask the chief minister to take necessary steps in the best interest of the people of the district.
CSOs, women leaders submitted memoranda to the Governor during the interaction programme.
Earlier, he was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at the helipad at Pherzawl district headquarter by Huanlianlal Guite, deputy commissioner Pherzawl, Ghanashyam Sharma, SP Pherzawl, Dr L Fimate, chairman Core Committee of the Festival, students and villagers.
The Governor was accompanied by his secretary Waikhom Bobby during the visit.
