Thangal Union celebrates Platinum Jubilee

Kangpokpi, January 12 2023:
Thangal Union (Thangal Khanglong), the apex body of Thangal Naga community celebrated its momentous Platinum Jubilee today at Yaikongpao village in Kangpokpi District under the theme, "Reminiscing Our Past and Envisioning Our Future Together" .
The auspicious event was graced by Textiles, Commerce & Industry, and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen; Saitu AC MLA, Haokholet Kipgen; Tadubi AC MLA, N Kayisii; Saikul AC MLA, Kimneo Haokip Hangshing and YK Kaping, president Thangal Union, as presidium members.
The celebration began with the unfurling of the Thangal Union flag by YK Kaping.
Nemcha Kipgen unveiled the Jubilee Monolith and released the Jubilee balloon after it was dedicated & blessed by Rev Cheijinba Rakhangmi, executive secretary, TNBA.
Nemcha Kipgen also released the Souvenir published by the Thangal Union Platinum Jubilee Celebration Committee.
Addressing the mammoth gathering, Nemcha Kipgen appreciated the tireless efforts and sacrifices of Thangal Union leaders, founders and other pioneers in making the Union a strong & responsible organisation in the State.
Terming the Jubilee theme, "Reminiscing our past and envisioning our future together" as an extreme necessity, the Minister said, "When we can recollect our past unity, love, and care for one another and stand together for our future, shouldering problems and hardships.
Manipur will automatically become a peaceful and developed State" .
She also appealed to the public to shed the clothes of disunity and embrace the spirit of oneness to make Manipur an advanced State.
While recalling the immense contribution and supreme sacrifice of the Thangal people, Nemcha shared that the Thangal community is a peace-loving community and inspired them to be an ambassador of peace in the State.
Paying his respect to the leaders of Thangal Union, YK Kaping stated that Thangal Union has been playing a leading role in the overall development of the community since its inception in 1947 .
Thangal Union also felicitated outstanding achievers from the Thangal community in various fields and contributors for the successful conduct of the event.
Thangal indigenous games, cultural dance, folk tunes and contemporary Thangal songs marked the auspicious celebration.
Apart from various civil society organisations, Thangal chiefs, Church leaders, YK Dallas Thangal, Ambassador of India to Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and his wife also attended the event.
