Ukhrul, August 21 2022:
A massive lightning strike blew a big hole in the roof of a dwelling house, and caused extensive damages to power cables and a meter box installed on the wall of the house in the early hours of Sunday in Ukhrul district.
According to reports, the lightning bolt hit the house of one AS Thomas in Ringui village in western Ukhrul around 4:30 am on Sunday, leaving a gaping hole in the roof of the house.
Though no casualties were reported, the intensity of the strike caused temporary hearing loss and stomach discomfort in three of the family members sleeping in the final room.
The bolt had smashed the power meter box and fused all of the house's electric lines.
A bamboo grove in the house's rear was also partially damaged, the reports said.
Locals, who inspected the affected spot in the morning, suspected that the bolt might have caused damage to the house before crashing into the bamboo grove.
