Dr Ranjan stresses empowerment of youth

Union minister of state for education and external affairs Dr RK Ranjan said that students have the ability to bring a bright future to the society and showcase the state's unique potentials at the global level.
Speaking as chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony of a painting competition organised by BJP Imphal East district as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen on Sunday, the union MoS said that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a celebration of the 75 years of India's Independence organised by the BJP government to retrospect the sacrifices made by the forefathers in the freedom struggle and create a path to take the nation to a newer height of development.
The painting competition was organised to create awareness on the historical facts and achievements that the country has made in the past 75 years, and it was participated by over 600 students, he said.
Painting is an art form in which a person expresses his/her thoughts through pictures.
India is a democratic country and the Constitution ensures freedom of expression and freedom of speech.
The competition is also a platform for the students to express their thoughts freely, he said.
Dr Ranjan also stressed the need for empowering the younger generations of the country in order to realise the targets of development and prosperity while stating that the same spirit is reflected in the National Education Policy 2020, which the government has formulated keeping in mind the need to scale new height of development by 2047 .
Speaking at the event, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda emphasised on providing proper counselling to students and encouraging them to choose the path they are interested in order to achieve success instead of just forcing them to become doctors or engineers.
The painting competition is a platform to bring out the talents of the students and encourage them to pursue their passion in life, she maintained.
