Prizes awarded to meritorious students

Awang Sekmai Scheduled Caste Development Committee (ASSCDC) organised the 19th Meritorious Award 2022 distribution ceremony at Awang Sekmai Koujeng community hall today.
The function was attended by Dr Usham Jugindro, District Malaria Officer, Imphal East; Kh Surjamani, president ASSCDC; Angom Brajamani, retd EO and retd principal Angom Nongyai as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Meanwhile, Kh Nilamani, chief of Awang Sekmai; Y Sarat, vice president, ASSCDC and working vice-presidents namely, Y Rajen, Kh Sanatomba and Kh Premjit graced the function as special guests.
It may be noted that the awards were handed over to students who passed the Class X and XII examination conducted by BOSEM, COHSEM and CBSE in the first division.
Lamlong Keithel Fambi Apunba Nupi Lup also feted two members of Kanglei Economic Development Organization (KEDO) who successfully cleared the HSLC examination conducted by BOSEM.
The felicitation ceremony was held at the temporary market shed in Khurai Lamlong Keithel.
The two KEDO members are Kharibam Sureshkumar from Uchiwa Mayai Leikai and Longjam Bitankumar from Sabungkhok Makha Leikai.
Kharibam Sureshkumar, who was a student of Thounaojam Ibobi Memorial English School, cleared the HSLC examination in the first division.
He joined KEDO in 2018 to help his bricklayer father in maintaining the household.
He currently works as a porter at Emoinu Ema Keithel and is pursuing his education at Johnstone Higher Secondary School in Class XI in the science stream.
Longjam Bitankumar appeared for the HSLC examination while studying at Tongou High School and passed the exam in the third division.
He, too, joined KEDO in 2018.He is currently employed as a porter at Khurai Lamlong Keithel while pursuing his academics at Moirangpurel Panam Hr Sec School in Class XI in the science stream at the same time.
The two KEDO members were felicitated with cash awards as well as various other gifts in encouragement.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Dhanapati, president, Lamlong Keithel Fambi Apunba Nupi Lup stated that KEDO members contribute a lot in ensuring that women vendors at the market are able to earn their livelihood.
She also lauded the dignified manner in which KEDO members conduct themselves.
Separately, the Organising Committee of Okram Sagei Apokpa Trust organised the 19th annual prize distribution function for meritorious students of the State and 'Okram Sagei' and best sportsperson at Singjamei parking Community Hall today.
The prize distribution function was attended by Professor N Rajmuhon Singh, VC, DM University as the chief guest; Dr Okram Kumar Singh, former principal, DM College of Commerce Imphal as the functional president.
During the event, the first, second and third position holders in the class X and XII examinations conducted by CBSE, COHSEM and BOSEM.
Toppers in the two examinations from Okram Sagei were also awarded.
Aside from this, best sportsperson awards were given to a sportsperson each in the field of fencing, hockey and football."The oldest man and woman from Okram Sagei" were also honoured during the programme.
In another instance, Progressive Youth Development Organization and Awang Sekmai Laipat Club conducted the 17th Meritorious Award 2021-22 to fete the students who passed in the first division in the Class X and XII exams conducted by BOSEM, COHSEM and CBSE.
In a statement, PYDO shared that during the function, Kh Tombi Singh, veteran news distributor was also honoured with a shawl and a cash award of Rs 10,000 by Maisnam Lukhoi Singh from Awang Sekmai Bazar.
Lastly, Sabal Kanba Lup, Moidangpok also organised a felicitation programme at Ibudhou Korounganba Shanglen, Moidangpok to encourage the successful students of Class X and XII examinations.
The event was attended by L Keinaton, Pradhan, Moidangpok GP as the chief guest S Ingocha Singh, president, Sabal Kanba Lup as the functional President and Dr Yaikomba, Managing Director and Consultant Paediatrician, Angel Children Hospital and Vaccination Centre as the guest of honour, according to a statement.
