CCpur police seizes 1 kg opium, AR 4 kg brown sugar

Imphal, August 21 2022:
A team of Churachandpur district police on August 19 seized 1 kg of contraband opium from near an oil pump located at Koite village.
The police team seized the opium from one Vulneichonh (38), wife of Thangmimlen of Molphei Tampak, Churachandpur.
Her accomplice Vakneikim Kipgen (42), wife of Thongminlen Kipgen of Molphei Tampak, Churachandpur, was also found to be engaged in the drug business and her mobile phone too was seized by the police.
An FIR has been registered against the two women and both remanded in police custody for seven days.
Meanwhile, Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (S) reportedly foiled cross border smuggling of Brown Sugar at Khudengthabi in Tengnoupal district on August 19 .
According to PRO IGAR (S), troops of Assam Rifles intercepted a White Scorpio at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, Khudengthabi and on thorough searching found 4301 grams of Brown sugar packed in 99 soap cases concealed inside the door panels and underneath the middle seat of the vehicle.
The seized narcotics assessed to be worth Rs 8.60 crore along with the apprehended peddler have been handed over to Moreh Police, the release added.
Tengnoupal Battalion also foiled cross border smuggling of contraband items in Teng noupal district on Saturday.
Informing that based on specific input, a team of Assam Rifles was sent for patrolling near Chalwa Junction and consequently spotted suspicious packages in the thick foliage of the jungle, the PRO said in another release that the recovered contraband items worth Rs 8.75 lakh have been handed over to Customs Preventive Force (CPF) for further investigation.
