Farmers trained, sprayer pumps distributed

Bishnupur, August 21 2022:
Agriculture Department along with Loumee Shinmee Apunba Lup (LOUSAL) organised a one-day farmers' training programme on 'Pest management and quality seed production of paddy' under the sponsorship of Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana (RKVY) at Ningthoukhong Kha Lamlong Bazar community hall on Sunday.
The inaugural function of the training programme was attended by Nachou ZP member Th Dilip Meetei as chief guest while RKVY Bishnupur nodal officer Th Joyprakash, Plant Health Clinic head Th Nimaichand Singh, retired agriculture officer L Sanatomba Singh, LOUSAL president Mutum Churamani Singh and Loumee Lup Bishnupur Th Somorendro attended as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Joyprakash Singh pointed that RKVY is a scheme taken up for the welfare of the farmers and urged the farmers to enhance their productivity by availing benefits of the scheme.
Replying to the questions raised by media persons, LOUSAL president Mutum Churamani observed that due to lack of proper knowledge, farmers do not use equipment provided by tlje government for agriculture in a proper manner.
Instead of organising awareness programmes during the peak of plantation season, the farmers should be made aware oh relevant issues during the off season, he opined, while stressing the need on the part of officers of agriculture department to conduct held visit during Go to Hills and Go to Village campaign launched by the chief minister.
He also expressed remorse that are farmers, who are yet to apply urea in their held as they did not get it though it is the time for application of the same for the third phase.
Power and manual sprayer pumps were also distributed to 50 select farmers.
