Imphal, August 21 2022:
Lions Club of Imphal Global on Sunday organised a one-day Tree Plantation Programme "Adopt a Tree" on the theme "Preserve your heritage, plant more trees" with a motive to protect the environment and preserve the sacred/holy places inherited from the ancestors across the state.
Speaking on the sidelines of the plantation drive, chartered president of the club said that every three seconds, forests equal to one complete football field are being cut down in the world.
This act is causing massive damage to the environment resulting in increased global warming.
In such a situation, it is the responsibility of every citizen to plant trees and take care of them, he added.
In his address, vice-president-I Khagokpam Khamba said the programme is organised to make people aware of the environment so that they can realise their responsibilities towards planting trees.
