Nupi Lal observed in Assam

All Assam Manipuri Women Meira Paibi Coordination Committee organised the 82nd Nupi Lal observance at Ramprasadpur in Dhalai, Assam on Sunday.
Committee acting president Konjengbam Aruna hoisted flag of the committee to mark the observance and it was followed by offering of floral tributes to the portraits of brave women who took major role in the historic Nupi Lal.
Committee vice president Khaidem Bimabati, Meira Central Committee legal advisor advocate Ramakanta, Amuthoi Sangeet Vidyalaya Chandpur chairman Dr KN Chand Singh, superintending engineer of Assam government's irrigation department RK Gopalsana, social activist Chingakham Harilal and Assam University, department of linguistics professor Kh Dhiren attended the morning session of the observance as the presidium members.
The evening session was joined by Assam fishery minister Parimal Shuklabaidh, social activist Nameirakpam Budhachandra and All Assam Manipuri Youth Association HQ advisor Ksh Kundal.
On the occasion, a resolution was adopted to demand the Assam government to pass Manipuri Autonomous Council Bill.
They also resolved to jointly take up initiatives to save youth from the menace of drugs and intoxicants, and to discourage Manipuri women from getting married to men of other communities.
