Imphal, October 11 2021:
While commenting on restriction of his movement in Yambem by some group of people, former minister and ex-Andro AC MLA Th Shyamkumar has announced that he will never contest any elections again if he fails to win around 1300 votes in Yambem, which has around 1,998 voters, in the upcoming Assembly elections.
On Monday morning, Yambem Youth Development Committee organised an election meeting of Th Shyamkumar at Yambem.
The meeting was attended by the youth and elderly people of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Th Shyamkumar reminded all concerned that India is the biggest democracy in the world and its citizens have the right to elect a representative of their choice.
It would be wrong to assume that one can win the election by threatening or misbehaving with others.
Thus, he urged the youth to abandon all violent tendencies and instead, be responsible and work towards development, by ensuring that the elections are held in peaceful manner.
He recounted that when he was elected as a representative in 2007, he worked for equal development of rural and urban areas without any discrimination.
It is customary for candidates to inform the people about the works one plans to take up to serve the people.
But, it is impossible for one to serve the people by threatening others, he remarked.
The ex MLA then said that the blacktopping works of some roads in Yambem will be carried out and completed within the current month.
Efforts are being made to install a Water Supply Scheme in Yambem, he added and invited suggestions from the people for a suitable location of the same.
