Former minister A Aza Shimray no more

Former Minister A Aza Shim-ray passed away on Sunday morning a day after he developed sudden breathlessness.
He was 80 .
Family sources said that Shimray complained of sudden shortness of breath on Saturday night.
He was taken to Ukhrul District Hospital on Sunday morning.
However, he died on the way around 10:30 am.
The cause of his death is yet to be established.
A condolence service was held at 6 pm on Sunday at his Winotang residence in Ukhrul town.
His mortal remains will be taken to his native^ place Chingjaroi CV on Monday for the final rites, the sources said.
He is survived by'his wife A Apui Shimray and four daughters.
Meanwhile, Chingai MLA Khashim Vashum condoled the sudden demise of the former MLA of 45-Chingai assembly constituency.
"Deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden demise of Oja Aza A Shimray, one of the most inspiring leaders of our time," Vashum said in his condolence message on Sunday.
He recalled Shimray as a leader, who was adored and respected by all.
"Having left a legacy, in you we have lost a sensible and a charismatic politician.
Always an honour to represent and serve the constituency you loved so much," he said while offering his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and friends.
Shimray was elected as a Congress MLA from 45-Chingai AC in 2002 after he joined the Indian National Congress party on December 23, 2001 .
He held the post of Youth Affairs & Sports Minister and went on to become a cabinet Minister during the then Congress regime.
He also served as a member of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and attended many political party organisation meetings at Delhi, Hyderabad, Gujarat, Chennai, and Guwahati.
Shimray took voluntary retirement from his government service on December 23, 2001 .
He passed his Matriculation from GK High School, Shillong in MeghaIaya under Gauhati University, Assam in 1961-62.He completed his BA from Cotton College Gauhati, Assam in 1966-67 and went on to receive BT from Gauhati University, Assam in 1971-72 and got trained in Examination Evaluation, NCERT Delhi.
Shimray began his occupation as a 'graduate teacher in 1966 .
He served as the headmaster at Eastern Christian Government High School, Chingjaroi; Ukhrul Government Hr Secondary School; Toloi Govt Hr Sec School; Phungyar Govt Hr Sec School and Kachai Govt High School.
Thereafter, he served as DEO/ZEO Ukhrul district for 9 years and 7 months from July 1988 to 1997.He also served as joint director of Education(S) in 2000-2001 .
He served as the chairman of DLO (District Level Officers) Ukhrul for 8 years from 1989-to 1997 and as secretary of All Manipur Education Directorate (S) Officers Forum during 2000-2001 .
He also served as joint secretary of Tangkhul Students' Union Imphal (1964-65) and as advisor of RKL (Raphei Katamnao Long).
On the other hand, Manipur EX-MLAs' Welfare Association has expressed its grief over the demise of A Aza.
In its condolence message, the association extended solidarity to the bereaved family members of late Aza.
The association then extended Rs 50,000 to the bereaved family through ex-MLA Samuel Risom.
