Kpi prays for safety of abused missionary Chunglienlal

Kangpokpi, January 02 2022:
Christian community of Kangpokpi town prayed for the safety and well-being of missionary Chunglienlal Singsit, who was allegedly attacked by pseudo-religious group on Christmas Day in Jammu, on December 31, 2021 .
Chunglienlal, a Friends Missionary Prayer Band (FMPB) missionary from the state was tortured, ill-treated and humiliated allegedly by a group of religious zealots in the street of Jammu while he was returning from the Christmas programme.
A viral video shows the zealots surrounding and accusing him of forced conversion and was forced to chant 'Jai Sri Ram' which he refused despite heavy pressure.
The incident happened in the wake of multiple anti-Christian rhetoric displayed by a pseudo-religious group in the biggest land of democracy following the grandest religious festival of the Christian community, Christmas.
During the midnight service on December 31 at Kangpokpi Christian Church, the gathering led by the pastor Rev J Lunkim prayed for Chunglienlal.
Lunkim said that the act of such humiliation and ill-treatment upon Singsit is totally against Article 25 of the Indian Constitution which the government must ensure that it does hot recur in the future while appreciating the missionary for his strong will and faith that despite such a heavy pressure he tolerated the abuse in the name of God.
All the church members gathered to welcome the New Year prayed for Chunglienlal Singsit for his safety and joyous celebration of the New Year with his family.
Since there had been no celebration of Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021 owing to the pandemic, the celebration of Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022 in Kangpokpi witnessed more joy and happiness despite"the government's restrictions right after the Christmas celebration.
