PM's visit: Fuel outlets to shut, flags removed

In view of the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state on January 4 all petrol pumps situated along Bir Tikendrajit International Airport to Sanjenthong Bridge have been directed to remain closed from 8 am of January 4 till the time of departure of the Prime Minister.
In an office memorandum issued by Imphal west DC Th Kirankumar, measures were being initiated to secure the route and facilitate smooth visit of the Prime Minister.
The DC also notified that in light of the visit, the entire stretch of road and surrounding areas from Bir Tikendrajit International Airport to Sanjenthong Bridge and roads leading to RIMS, Lamphel have been designated as 'Red Zone' under Section 19 of the Drone Rules, 2021 and operation of any unmanned aircraft system (drones) including nano and micro category shall be prohibited from 8 am of January 4 till the time of departure of the Prime Minister.
As part of beautification drive being taken up ahead of the visit of the PM, police removed flags and posters of some political parties and intending candidates erected/pasted on the road median.
Hectic beatification drive is being carried out along the route to be taken by the Prime Minister which had already been declared as red zone.
All the debris on both the sides of the road from Imphal Bir Tikendrajit International Airport to Sanjenthong had been removed since the past few days.
Removal of makeshift structures set up on the footpaths on both of the sides of the road have started but police allowed owners to remove the same.
As per a police source, removal of congested flags and poster boards of some political parties erected on road median started from Saturday after the district magistrate issued an order in this regard.
Political parties concerned have also been informed to remove flags and posters erected on road median, the source added.
