AFSPA no longer needed in state: Joykumar
NPP to give special focus on youths, women empowerment

National People's Party (NPP), Manipur vice-president Yumnam Joykumar said that as law and order situation has improved and there is no need to extend AFSPA in the state.
The deputy chief minister also said that the party will give special focus on empowerment of youth and women if it comes to power after the 2022 polls.
Attending a one-day youth convention organised by NPYF Kshetrigao unit held at Kshetri Iril Mapal Youth Club ground on Sunday, Joykumar said that the state is witnessing significant changes in the political profile.
Out of the total electors, 60 per cent are in the age group of 18 to 40 years, who are well educated and have a fair knowledge of the issues besetting the state.
The party strongly believes that youth will play a major role in the 2022 assembly election all over the state including Kshetrigao assembly constituency, he said.
As a national political party originated from the soil of northeast with a regional outlook, NPP has set a target to bring positive changes in the northeast region and working towards raising a united voice of the youth of northeast to take the region to a new frontier of development under the idea of one northeast one voice, he said.
NPP state general secretary and intending candidate in Kshetrigao assembly constituency Sheikh Noorul Hassan said that the party, if elected to power, will bring out a youth policy and implement the same within a short duration.
Earlier, youth were misled and used as a propaganda tool in times of election without taking up any initiatives for their welfare and empowerment.
Things will change once the party comes into power, he assured, while adding that the party is aiming to making the youth self-reliant.
He also assured of making Kshetrigao one of the most developed constituencies of the state apart from paying special focus to development in health and education sector, if he got elected.
