STDCM urges for public support

cheduled Tribe Demand Committee Manipur (STDCM) general secretary K Bhogendrajit has appealed to the people of the state to extend their support in the movement for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list of the Indian Constitution.
On Sunday, Sunusiphai Welfare Youth Club (SWYC) and Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup jointly staged a sit-in demonstration at Sunusiphai Mayai Bazar, demanding inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list.
Speaking on the sidelines, Bhogendrajit contended that the niovement is for the sake of future survival of the Meetei/Meitei community.
He then rued the government's lackadaisical attitude towards the public demand for forwarding the recommendation to tlje central government for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list.
As such, he appealed to the people to extend their support in democratic protests to be staged in this regard.
SWYC secretary Fitter, STDCM publicity secretary W Ananda Meetei and others also spoke on the occasion and shared their opinions.
During the sit-in, protestors shouted slogans such as 'Save indigenous Meetei/Meitei', 'Forward recommendation at the earliest', etc.
