Five matches decided on Day 1 of Senior state handball tournament

Imphal, January 02 2022:
Five matches were decided on the opening day of the 45th Senior Men & Women State Level Handball Tournament underway at YLK Handball ground, Chingarel Tejpur.
The first match of the tournament saw YLK edge past IMC 9-8 in the women's event.
Y Monika scored four goals as Chaobi and Berlice did their bit with a double each and Sangita contributed a goal in their side's hard-fought victory.
In the second day, ARC overpowered YLK 26-7 in the men's competition.
Suresh Roy led the scoring with eight goals, followed by Sanatomba who netted five, Anupam Chouduri (4) and Pravin (3) .
Kiranjit, Yaiphaba and Lenil also got on the scoresheet, claiming two goals apiece for the winning side.
In other women's match, MPSC made a rousing start to their campaign with a 21-6 thrashing of Citizen.
Apabi and Dimple equally shared 10 between them as Sandharani grabbed four goals and Sunibala scored three goals, with Khomeiton and Laxmi chipping in with a double each.
In the second men's match, BBA cruised to a 12-1 win over MPSC.
Eight goals from Gobin, four from Ingocha, three from Saratchandra and one each from Robi and Dinachandra gave their team a good start.
Men's third match wrapped up the day's competition as IMC trounced Citizen 22-15 .
For the winning side, Lemba claimed eight goals, followed by O Prem (4), Lamnganba (3), Umkanta (2), A Prem (2), Akenderjit (2) and Tony (1) .
