CORCOM boycotts PM Modi's visit to 'Kangleipak'
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, January 02 2022: Coordination Committee (CorCom), a conglomerate of seven armed outfits, has announced boycott of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Manipur (Kangleipak) on January 4 and imposed a total shutdown across the state from 1 am of January 4.In a statement released to the press by its publicity committee, CorCom said that Modi's visit to Manipur will neither usher in development to the state nor guarantee basic human rights.

It is merely to put on a show by donning the mask of democracy to trap the people and keep on suppressing them, so as to continue India's control over Manipur.

Thus, in addition to boycotting the visit, a total shutdown will be imposed in the state from lam of January 4 .

However, emergency services, including medical and fire services, water and others will be exempted.

The statement continued: "Narendra Modi's visit to the state is merely to campaign for votes for the upcoming Assembly election.

India may proclaim amongst the international community including the United Nations that the elections are proof of it being the largest democracy but all of it is just a smokescreen.

Owing to this lie, India has been able to covet the non-permanenet membership in the United Nations Security Council, apart from holding the chairpersonship of three sub-committees of the United Nations.

"However, the truth is India does not know what indenpendence truly is and disrespects it.

Jammu & Kashmir, which held a special status was divied into two union territories by abrogating Article 370 .

It is the first time in the history of the Indian Union to have a full-flegded state being reduced to the category of union terriorty, while having its territory further divided against the wishes of its people.

Manipur too, which had its own constitution and a legislature, was forcefully annexed and treated as the lowest of the law.

On January 21, 1972, 'Kangleipak' was recognised as a state of India, which, in reality, is just in name.

This event proves that India does not know what independence is.

"Apart from Manipur, AFSPA-1959 was imposed in WESEA region, namely Tri-pura Meghalaya and others.

After the Act was imposed in 1958, many innocent indigenous people of the region, including Manipur lost their lives, many women raped and several more forced to undergo atrocities upon atrocities.

The most recent atrocity committed by the Indian Army was the Oting incident in Nagaland.

At present no action has been taken up to punish the culprits involved in the incident.

After the people of Nagaland protested against the killings, it was believed that AFSPA would be repealed from the state.

However, contrary to the people's expectation, the promulgation of the draconian Act was further extended in Nagaland by 6 more months, thereby stating in a way that the people's grievances are for nought and the killings will continue as usual.

"According to the judgement given by the bench of Supreme Court Justices Madan B Lokur and Uday Lalit on July 8, 2017 in the PIL filed by Extra Judicial Execution Victim Families Association against the extra-judicial killings of 1528 civilians by the Indian Army; the Court prevented security forces from using excessive force under the shroud of AFSPA.

However, despite the verdict, the court is unable to proceed with the proceeding any further due to lack of the prosecution sanction of many of the accused soldiers.

The government of Manipur has not been doing anything with regard to the public demand for granting of the prosecution sanction.

This indicates that the there is no civil administration in Manipur, but martial law/military rule albeit inconspicuously.

The different political parties in the state also do not fail to use the promise for repeal of AFSPA as one of their propagandas during the time of the elections" .

Questioning the meaning behind using brute force, sometimes armed during the time of elections, which is meant to allow the people to choose representatives of their choice; CorCom asked whether the elections are going to be portrayed as a referendum, terming its as the people's agreement towards the forceful annextion of Kangleipak in 1949 .

"The Indian leaders may claim the elections as one the most beautiful processes of democrcay but to the people of Kangleipak, it is the biggest corruption game, which is being played at the highest level.

The people of Kangleipak have been numbed by the prolonged suppression by India and as such cannot recognise anything other than corruption.

They cannot help but fall into the traps of corrpution and drugs, which has been set by India.

This is why people take money from candidates in exchange for votes.

The situation is more dire as the youth of Kangleipak are being led astray by politicians to commit crimes under the influnce of money and muscle, which is unfortunate for this land.

"Taking lessons from past mistakes in handling the Covid-19 pandemic, the Allahabad High Court had suggested postponing the upcoming elections in 5 states including Manipur until the Omicron wave abates.

However, the PM and the ECI have ignored the suggestion and going ahead with the polls, as scheduled.

This indicates that the lives of the people of Kangleipak are nothing to India.

As such, the people should stay far away from the PM's visit to Kangleipak along with all other election related events.

They should not support the visit of any Hindu fanatic leaders, who are out to destroy Kangleipak and instead boycott their visits," it exhorted.
