Imphal, January 02 2022:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president MLA N Loken has stated that Congress will not field candidates in Assembly Constituencies where the party has less chance of winning to save time and money.
Election may be held next month, he added.
Addressing an election campaign at Leimapokpam Community Hall today, N Loken continued that Congress will field candidates in the ACs where the party has the prospect of winning.
Saying that there is a BJP Government in only 10 States, the Congress leader maintained that it is only Tripura which has a BJP exclusive Government in the entire North East region.
N Loken further stated that BJP has only 22 MLAs in Manipur currently.
Though the BJP basks in getting the Inner Line Permit System implemented in Manipur, the system doesn't incorporate any provision to protect the indigenous people, the MPCC chief said and added that the saffron party has also failed to deliver the assurance given in its Vision Document.

He also asked as to why the State is not holding elections for ADC, Imphal Municipality and other local bodies and accused the BJP led Government of withholding the fund of local bodies already sanctioned by the Centre.
Claiming that certain Pradhans and Zilla Parishads have resolved to boycott BJP in the 2022 Assembly election if the Government doesn't release the pending fund of MGNREGS and 15th Finance Commission on or before January 10, N Loken alleged that the Central leaders of BJP have been visiting Manipur as they are aware of the difficult situation of the party in the State which will go to polls in the first quarter of 2022.Further stating that BJP will not win more than 12 seats in the ensuing election including five from hill districts, N Loken maintained that Congress, however, is targeting 25 seats in valley districts alone.
The Congress leader also claimed that BJP will not get support from its five coalition partners after the next Assembly elections.
Maintaining that Congress will not field candidates in Keishamthong AC, N Loken asserted that the party, however, will abolish BJP in such ACs where there are no Congress candidates by supporting their rivals.
The State will surely witness a Government led by Congress after the election, he said and added that the State is facing a crunch in frastructure development, releasing honorarium and project bills though there is BJP led Government at the Centre.
N Loken asserted that Congress will take the due shares of the State from the Centre.
