Guv commends philanthropic services of IRC Society

Governor La Ganesan has said the philanthropic services rendered by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) are really remarkable and commendable.
Speaking at the Patron Certificates distribution function of IRCS Manipur State Branch, held on Tuesday at the Raj Bhavan, the Governor acknowledged that the society has been rendering yeoman services for the downtrodden and needy for the last several years when they suffered from various types of natural calamities.
While noting that the IRCS has been extending invaluable services to the widows, whose husband died due to gun violence or cancer or HIV/AIDS, with the support of the International Red Cross Committee and IRCS national headquar ters, La Ganesan said IRCS is one of the internationally known organisations devoted mainly to philanthropic and humanitarian services.
"Red Cross Societies around the world are extending help to millions of needy people and also endeavouring over the years with the objective to create and foster a spirit of understanding among the people of the world" .
As no service is as great and valuable as the service for the poor, needy and less fortunate persons, the humane activities of IRCS for the poor and needy is indeed commendable and praiseworthy, he maintained and expressed hope that IRCS will keep continuing humanitarian services to unfortunate and needy people of this state.
As a part of the event, the Governor handed over Patron Certificates to MLA Th Lokeshwar Singh, Imphal East Zilla Parishad member Seram Neken Singh, H Bikramjit Singh, Dr Y Mohen and Dr L Manglem Singh.
He also distributed Meritorious Volunteer Award to IRCS Senapati Branch president.
Later, the Governor flagged off an ambulance of IRCS Manipur from Raj Bhavan.
IRCS Mapipur State Branch secretary RK Nimai Singh, volunteers from Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Senapati districts participated in the function.
