Revoke hike in govt school fee: AMSU

The order doubling of the school admission fee in the government higher secondary schools should be revoked by the authority says a press release from AMSU.
It is also mentioned that in the year 2014-15 the admission fee to a higher secondary school was Rs 1800 but it was increased to Rs 3600 from the session 2015-16 which is double the amount from previous year.
The students' union said that the increase in admission fee is a hard blow to many students who cannot afford the amount and they might be discouraged to get enrolled in the schools.
It is also mentioned that the step is contrary to that of the Sikkim government which is providing free education and free textbooks.
The students' body also questions the vehicle parking fee, library fee, study tour fee, guidance fee which is included in the admission fee and blames the government for not providing or improving facilities for same.
