Cong akin to a vehicle on back gear: Ananth Kumar

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar here on Friday ridiculed the Congress and compared the party with a vehicle on "back gear" and hailed his party BJP as a "top gear" party.
The minister was felicitating BJP candidates who came out victorious in the Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls held on June 1.The party won 21 seats securing the third position in the polls conducted to the six district councils which have 144 seats.
The function was held at the State BJP office.
Ananth Kumar assured that Narendra Modi Government will give maximum impetus to the all-round development of the Northeast States.
He stated that the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre has shown a leap in development in many areas.
The minster, however, expressed concern about the unemployment problem of the State.
He said that the effort for providing jobs to the unemployed youth is a very difficult task.
He admitted that there certain difficulties which are hampering in bringing about peace and tranquility in Manipur.
Ananth said Manipur needs a good Government.
Earlier in the day, Ananth formally inaugurated a newly-constructed Academic and Hostel blocks of the CIPET (Central Institute of Plastics Engineering Technology) Imphal Centre.
The function was also attended by Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, MP Dr T Meinya, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga (IAS), among others.
