In the midst of the search operation, Sougrakpam Sanjoy (the victim) indulged in an altercation with the police personnel on pathetic road conditions.
After the war of words, six people including Sanjoy was pulled up by the police team and locked up in the police station.

Condemning such actions by the law enforcing agencies of the State, publicity secretary, Singjamei Apunba Nupi Lup S Sumati asked whether the combing operation was to apprehend anti-social elements of the society or to harass innocent civilians.
She further drew the attention of the Home Minister of the State, Imphal West SP and Singjamei SDPO to take up necessary action against the personnel involved and suspend the SI who led the team for acting against the interest of civilians.
