DESAM bans shops in schools

Imphal, June 12 2015 :
Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) on Friday banned of selling of school uniforms and other items for their particular schools.
Speaking to the media persons in their office located at Keishampat DESAM President M Angamba, said that many private schools formed different rules which encourage commercializsation of the educational institutes.
He said commercialisation of the educational institutes give burden to students and their families as many private schools have start using of their own school logo and names on the expensive uniform, shoes, socks, belts and many others things.
The school authority charges for the school uniform from Rs 500 to Rs 1000.Angamba said.
DESAM volunteers on Friday inspected in different schools located at Imphal areas and collected many samples from the schools authorities.
They found that many schools selling different uniforms for different Classes and house (group) and separate uniform for different days.
