Imphal, August 01 2015 :
All educational institutions in the Greater Imphal area will be re-opened on Monday and the State Government has issued an order to this effect on Saturday.
The Government ordered temporary closure of educational institutes, including Higher Secondary Schools, Junior/Upper Primary, Primary Schools located in Greater Imphal area since July 8 to ensure the physical safety and security of all students owing to the disturbance in connection with agitations demanding introduction of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur, an official release said.
It appealed to all concerned to extend cooperation in ensuring resumption of normal classes in the schools.
Following the death of a student in police firing and injury caused to several others, the Government took a decision on July 8 to shut down indefinitely all educational institutes in these two districts where the pro-ILP protesters had launched intensified movements.
While seeking cooperation from the people, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendra also said that since the students have not been attending classes in the last many days, the schools should hold extra classes.
