Imphal, August 01 2015 :
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) on Saturday urged the Government constituted Drafting Committee to present an ILPS Bill that can safeguard the interests of the indigenous people at an earliest.
A statement of the committee which has been spearheading the ILP movement said that the people can figure out the "resignation drama" staged by three MLAs who are members of the Drafting Committee.
JCILPS vowed to continue the ILP protest with support of the people until the demand is met and stated that the matter concerning formation or non-formation of a Drafting Committee rests with the Government itself.
However, the sole objective of the people is introduction of an Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) Bill by incorporating the key five points recommended by the committee to protect the indigenous people, it asserted.
The committee said the course of action of the Drafting Committee is well understood now as it was learnt from the statement by one of its members MLA Dr Ng Bijoy that the points suggested by JCILPS were awaited.
It questioned why the distinctive 'five points' of the people, which were reaffirmed by the July 23, 2015 public meeting, are still ignored by the Government and the Drafting Committee.
JCILPS said there will be no changes in the recommended five points and that there is no need to remind the stance of the committee to the Government or the Drafting Committee.
The committee along with the people is always ready to dwell on the proposed ILP bill to be introduced by the Drafting Committee, it said.
JCILPS said the Drafting Committee must fulfill its assurance and then it urged the people to intensify the ILP movement to openly show that the people are against the alleged delaying tactics adopted by the Government.
