Jiribam, August 01 2015 :
Apart from crippling normal life in Jiribam, around 14 vehicles have been reportedly damaged during the 48-hour public curfew clamped by JCILPS, Jiribam Branch.
School as well as business establishments remained clo-sed throughout the public curfew.
Government offices also recorded low attendance.
The curfew which started from 7 pm of July 30 witnessed a large number of bandh supporters staging sit-in protests and rallies.
Human chains were also formed by various local organisations and Meira Paibis demanding enforcement of ILPS in the State and punishment of the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood.
Protesters did not even let a vehicle of Assam Rifles proceed through the blocked road.
On the other hand, after the Barak bridge of National Highway 37 was cut off, around 300 vehicles have been stranded.

One Tata DI vehicle and 14 passenger vehicles stationed outside Leingangpokpi police station gate were damaged and two mobile handsets have also been taken away by 30-40 individuals at 11.30 pm last night.
Driver of Tata DI said that police personnel in Leingangpokpi had told them about the ongoing public curfew and made the vehicles park outside the police station gate.
Expressing displeasure over the inaction of the police personnel, the Tata DI driver said, "If prompt action was initiated by the police personnel, the incident should not have occurred.
Our request to meet the OC concerned was also turned down by the police personnel.
The surprising thing is that only passenger carrying vehicles were destroyed when many Tata trucks were also stationed at that moment" .
Speaking to media persons, one functionary of JCILPS, Jiribam Branch said, "We cannot confirm if the vehicles were damaged by the public curfew supporters or by some other individuls(s).
However, we can say that we have imposed a public curfew and any untoward incident that had occurred should be the sole responsibility of those individuals who defied the public curfew" .
