Jiribam, August 01 2015 :
Due to the damages at Barak Bridge in National Highway 37 on July 26 last, 230 full loaded trucks at Leingangpokpi, 50 trucks at Barak and around 25 vehicles heading from Imphal towards Jiribam have been stranded.
However, passenger vehicles are using the old Barak Bridge for transportation while passengers first cross the bridge on foot.
Meanwhile, drivers of DI vehicles strongly condemned the vandalizing of 14 passenger vehicles during the 48 hour public curfew imposed by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System, Jiribam branch.
It has been said that 14 passenger vehicles which were parked at the gate of Leingangpokpi Police were vandalized and two mobile phones were snatched by 30/40 unknown persons at around 11.30 pm.
Vehicles were stopped by the police due to the public curfew, but these police personnel could not do anything when their vehicles were vandalized, said the drivers.
The drivers also wondered and asked why only the DI vehicles were vandalized while trucks were left untouched.
