National Health Mission and Health Department Manipur have constituted emergency rapid response team led by its Director Okram Ibomcha to provide medical facilities in flood affected areas of Chandel and Thoubal districts.
The officials and staff of Health Department led by its Director O Ibomcha on Saturday conducted field visits in the affected villages of Sugnu and Serou areas.
Free medical camps were conducted in the relief camps and medicines were also provided free of cost during the camp.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the visit, O Ibomcha said the free medical camp was organised to prevent water bone diseases and will continue after the return of the normal life in the areas.
Ibomcha said many persons were found sick during the medical examination.
The medical camp was organised as a part of Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight.
He further said over thirty relief camps have been kept opened in the Sugnu and Serou areas, local MLA K Ranjit is also helping the affected people by supplying relief materials to them.
Ibomcha also narrated one pregnant woman from Kakching was saved by the health department using a JCB in the late Friday when her house was submerged by the water.
Meanwhile vehicle movement has been disrupted on the way between Wabagai to Sugnu after also roads were flooded.
The people on the area were busy catching fish by using nets in the road side.
On the other hand, a one-day free medical camp was held at the flood affected Naorem village under PHC Oinam of Bishenpur district on Saturday.
A team of four doctors including gynaecologists provided free health check up for 300 individuals.
During the camp free medicines were distributed.
The camp was organised by the District Health Society, Bishenpur.
