Imphal-Ukhrul road sinks

The Imphal-Ukhrul road has sunk at least three feet over a sretch of 50 metres at Naga gate near Ukhrul district hospital, Hundung as downpour continues in the district.
Movement of heavy vehicles along the road was halted for the whole day.
84 RCC labourers have been engaged for filling in the sunken portion.
It may also be mentioned that due to fresh cutting, the Ukhrul highway from Finch corner is in dilapidated condition which has been aggravated by incessant rainfall.
Officer in-charge of BRTF, Dinesh assured that filling up of the sunken road portion would be completed today itself .
At same time, the Kamjong-Ukhrul BRTF road connecting 30 villages under Kamjong block remained cut off for three days due to severe landslides at various locations in between Maku village and Kamjong over a strect of 9 kilometres.
The area is likely to remain in isolation until heavy machinery are engaged for repairing works or clearing the debris.
Landslide was also reported from three separate locations along NH-202 .
Meanwhile, as a result of sinking of Ukhrul town Circular road from Rayotang to Viewland Zone II, the newly constructed Meitei Baptist Church's pastor quarters and kitchen got cracked and are said to be in a deplorable condition.
Pastor of MBA, Y Lamba has appealed to all Christians to pray for them as there is a growing fear that the building might collapse in case there is more rainfall.
The Northern Tangkhul Student or Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL) has appealed to the authority concerned for timely intervention before the conditions of the roads and highway become worst.
Landslide was reported to have occurred at seven places along the ADB funded road from Thoubal to Kasom village.
10 paris of agriculture land belonging to Yeasom village have been submerged.
A suspension bridge on Khoiru Lok was also washed away by the flood.
