Addressing media persons at its Kwakeithel head office, here, on Wednesday, DESAM secretary general Mayengbam Somorjit Meitei said that RIMS not only serves as the treatment centre for the people of the state and the northeast but is also a pres tigious medical institution that has featured among the top 50 out of 540 medical institutions across the coun try for the last three years in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking.
Stating that the premier medical institute has been providing a platform for treating patients of different ailments and helping the state in overcoming the problems faced in medical care, Somorjit Meitei maintained that keeping the institute authority-less for the past many days is very unfortunate and it could create issues in future.
Terming the current state of affairs gripping RIMS after the expiry of the term of the regular director as unwanted and a big issue for the state as a whole, the DESAM secretary general demanded declaration of the result of the DPC conducted by the ministry of health and family welfare, on December 22, 2022 and appoint a regular director at the earliest.
He also urged authority concerned to appoint a director in-charge before a regular director is finalised, as per the bye-laws of RIMS.
