Imphal, September 30 2021:
Impa Lui Organisation (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) has expressed strong objection to suspension of deputy commissioner and SP Tamenglong district following the demand raised by the 'Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal murder of Athuan Abonmai'.
In a memorandum submitted to the CM on Thursday, Impa Lui Organisation (AMN) chairman N Alia vehemently condemned the unfortunate incident of abduction and subsequent murder of Zeliangrong Baudi former president Athuan Abonmai on September 22 in Tamenglong district.
While sincerely conveying its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and praying for the departed soul to rest in peace, the Organisation termed as very appreciative the CM's effort and discernment in handling the fragile aforementioned situation with upmost concern in pursuit of justice for the departed soul.
"One of the greatest exemplary gestures the chief minister has shown to the people of Manipur is that he has taken the burden upon himself by apologising to the public in a press conference".
Hitherto, more than a dozen police personnel have been suspended, the case handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), bereaved family assured of ex-gratia and suitable government job to the next of kin.
However, there is an unjustified point in the charter of demands raised by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) for suspension of DC and SP Tamenglong district, it stated.
Impa Lui Organisation said that they strongly object to this demand and they see no merit for the state government to act upon it just only to appease the JAC without bringing justice.
The ill-fated incident happened on the day when the chief minister who is also the home minister was present with all his ministerial colleagues and top officers of the state.
Yet this unfortunate incident occurred amidst tight security.
Therefore, they beseech CM's intervention so that the DC and SP are not made the scapegoats just to appease the JAC.
Suspension of innocent officers without valid reason will defeat the very purpose of seeking truth and justice which are guaranteed to every citizen under the Constitution of India for every citizen.
They repose their hope on the wisdom of the CM for timely intervention, it added.
