School office, houses gutted by inferno

Moreh, September 30 2021:
A massive fire destroyed the office of Netaji Memorial English High School and five other houses at Gamnom Veng, Moreh ward no 2 at around 1 am today.
It was suspcted that the fire was sparked from candlelight, reports our correspondent.
Of the six structures, three of them including the office of Netaji Memorial English High School have reportedly been reduced to ashes by the inferno.
The ill-fated houses belonged to Seiboi Haokip, Francis Thangpi, Seithang Hanghal, Linda Niang Za hoih while the two others were Netaji Memorial English High School office and Manipur Presbyterian Church quarters.
The fire was doused by the personnel of Moreh Fire Brigade, 43 Assam Rifles, police and people of the locality.
Ex-ADC Chairman Lhu-khosei Zou provided finan- cial help and rice to the fire victims.
One victim said that the power supply to the locality has been cut-off since the last 2-3 days and as such the locals are using candles.
