Thoubal, September 30 2021:
All Manipur Newly Appointed PWD Employees' Association, 2016 has drawn attention of the government to immediately call back employees of the department who were banned from joining duty.
According to association president Y Chandrasekhor, a group of PWD employees appointed in 2006 had joined duty in 2017 but government decided to review the recruitment process and prohibited them from joining duty with effect from April 29, 2017 .
Chandrasekhor along with some functionaries of the association went to the residence of its member Akoijam Jiten of Thoubal Wangmataba Sorok Mathak, who is undergoing treatment after failure of both kidneys, and handed over financial assistance to his family on Thursday.
Speaking to media persons during the visit, Chandrasekhor contended that recruitment process for PWD employees was conducted in the right way but banning them from joining duty cut short their happiness of getting a secured government job.
After removing from job, the High Court of Manipur in its ruling on June 26, 2019 said that there were no errors in the recruitment process and the same was mentioned in the report placed by the government constituted SIT as well as in response to an RTI application.
However, the employees are yet to return to their respective jobs, he said and appealed to the government particularly the chief minister and the works minister to revoke the ban and allow the employees to return to their respective offices.
